DAY TWO OF THE 33RD IFYR SHOWCASES TOP TALENT FROM COAST TO COAST
Monday, July 7 featured top youth athletes from coast to coast as they competed under the bright lights of Shawnee and vied for top positions in the first round of competition.
Barrel racing saw a talented field take on the cloverleaf pattern throughout the morning and evening performances. When the dust settled, Rinley Rawlins (Midlothian, Texas) earned top honors in the evening performance with a quick 16.282-second run, placing her second behind Karly Davis (Buffalo, Wyo.), whose 16.234-second run came during Performance 1. Gracie Snyder (Hendrix, Okla.) posted the fastest time of the morning with a 16.539-second run.
All eyes were on Golden State cowgirl Jaycee McGill (Sanger, Calif.) as she ran the fastest pole bending pattern of the week so far, stopping the clock in 20.121 seconds. In a close second place is home-state cowgirl Merrick Moyer (Woodward, Okla.), who clocked the fastest evening performance time at 20.127 seconds.
Three talented cowgirls currently share the top spot on the breakaway roping leaderboard. During the morning performance, Avery Childers (Mead, Okla.) became the first competitor to stop the clock in 2.2 seconds. In the evening, she was quickly tied by two Florida cowgirls—Addison Hodge (Bonifay, Fla.) and Avery Weekly (Pensacola, Fla.)—who also caught their calves in 2.2 seconds.
Lone Star State cowgirl Addi Carney (Crockett, Texas) took over the goat tying leaderboard with a thrilling 7.6-second run. During the morning performance, Taylor Rickman (Adair, Okla.) posted the fastest time with a 9.0-second effort.
The calf roping leaderboard also saw a shake-up, as Rendon Powledge (Grandview, Texas) bested the field with an impressive 8.2-second run in the evening performance. He currently leads the pack, with morning performance leader Dax Reed (Clint, Texas) sitting in third with a 9.6-second run.
Colorado cowboy Wyatt Williams (Primrose, Colo.) topped the evening steer wrestling performance with a 4.6-second run, tying Colton Gilliard (Milton, Fla.) for the go-round lead.
In saddle bronc riding, the morning performance featured a standout 79.5-point ride by Cajun cowboy Wyatt Lavergne (Sulphur, La.), who currently leads the round. The evening’s top ride came from Trenton Eck (Redfield, Kan.), who made the 8-second mark in style with a 79.0-point ride for second place.
In bull riding, Jace Hensley (Paola, Kan.) highlighted the evening performance with a score of 82.0 points, currently sitting second in the round behind Wyatt Nuce’s (Gustine, Texas) 85.5-point ride.
In bareback riding, Jaspur Farris (Brady, Texas) led his performance with a strong 71.0-point ride. He currently sits in second behind Jaxson Thurman (El Dorado, Ark.), who leads with 72.0 points.
Turning heads in team roping was the Oklahoma duo of Colton Thomason (Henryetta) and Braxton Ogle (McLoud), who stopped the clock in an impressive 4.5 seconds to take the round lead.
Rodeo action will continue with Performance 3 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center and continuing through the evening of July 11.A full list of results can be found HERE.
