PERFORMANCE 3 SEES SHAWNEE’S YOUTH RODEO STARS SHINE BRIGHT
SHAWNEE, Okla. – Monday night, the stars came out to shine under the bright Shawnee skies as the 32nd edition of the International Finals Youth Rodeo continued with Performance 3.
In barrel racing, Lone Star State cowgirl Patton Ann Lynch (Crawford, Texas) blazed the quickest time of the rodeo thus far with a stellar run of 16.201 seconds. This run places her nearly four-tenths of a second ahead of the second fastest time, run by Rylie Conner (Saint Cloud, Fla.).
Also climbing her way to the top of the round was Sooner State cowgirl Saige Leven (Burbank, Okla.) with a fast-paced 21.115-second run.
Channing Wescott (Deleton, Texas) turned heads in the breakaway roping arena, becoming the fastest cowgirl thus far. With a 1.8-second run, she leads the competitive pack of ropers by a narrow margin.
Performance 3 saw many lead changes, including Brodey Clemons (Weatherford, Texas) in calf roping with a lightning-quick 8.4-second performance.
In saddle bronc riding, Colt Bass (Statesville, N.C.) currently leads the performance and round with an impressive 81.5-point ride. In bareback riding, roughstock athletes continued to put up their best performances, with Kash Loyd (Cleburne, Texas) taking home the highest marked ride of the performance with a 71.5-point score.
Texas competitor Kreece Dearing (Chico, Texas) was the quickest to get his steer down in steer wrestling with a smooth 4.0-second run.
Jesus Villa Jr. (Weatherford, Texas) made it to the 8-second mark with a standout score of 82.5 points, currently ranking him in second place of Round 1.
In team roping, the duo from Louisiana, Carter Perry (Arcadia, La.) and Alex Herbert (Scott, La.), lead the performance and currently lead the round with a smooth and successful 6.1-second run. Concluding the Monday night performance in goat tying was Avery Childers (Mead, Okla.) with a blistering quick 7.1-second run.
The rodeo action will continue with Performance 4 taking place at 9 a.m. at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center, and will continue through the evening of July 12.

For over three decades, Shawnee, Okla., has welcomed thousands of the brightest youth rodeo stars to compete for one of the most prosperous and prestigious youth titles. Events include cowgirls barrel racing, cowgirls pole bending, cowgirls breakaway roping, cowgirls goat tying, team roping, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, bull riding, saddle bronc riding, and bareback riding. The IFYR features 11 performances, with competition beginning on Sunday, July 7 at 7:30 p.m. and concluding Friday, July 12 with the finals performance at 7:30 p.m. There will be two performances a day with all disciplines, Monday through Friday, at 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
