Almost one year ago, Kase Busby struck gold and took home the 2022 International Finals Youth Rodeo All Around Cowboy and Steer Wrestling titles in Shawnee, Oklahoma. This life-changing win has propelled the now 19-year-old cowboy into the collegiate and professional ranks and provided him with priceless memories.

The Louisiana native now resides in Wharton, Texas where he recently wrapped up his first year of college at Wharton County Junior College, where he is studying Electrical Instrumentation and competing in Steer Wrestling in the Southern Region. As Busby concludes his first year of collegiate rodeo, he reflected on the impact the IYFR has had on his young career.

“Winning the IFYR Steer Wrestling and All Around has been one of my greatest accomplishments and has changed my life. This win has provided me with the confidence and skills to compete at the next level in college.”

Busby explained this win was simply “One of the best weeks of my life, I will always be grateful for it”. Busby looks to take his Steer Wrestling career to the next level this Summer, purchasing his PRCA permit and competing at amateur rodeos along the way.

The third-generation cowboy accredits his success to the support of his family and friends. Busby explained, “I wouldn’t be anywhere without the support of my parents, grandpa, and uncle.”

As the next hopeful cowboy looks to take home the prestigious All Around Cowboy title and take home a piece of the $250,000 payout in Shawnee, July 9-14, the outgoing All Around champion reflected on the impact this title has left on him.

“I’ve competed in Shawnee three times and each time has provided me with priceless memories. Taking home nearly $5000, a great prize lineup and prestigious titles are one of the greatest accomplishments of my rodeo career.”
