ROSTER IS SET FOR THE 31ST EDITION OF THE IFYR WITH A NEAR 1,000 ENTRIES, AND MORE THAN 35 STATES REPRESENTED

Ahead of the 2023 IFYR (International Finals Youth Rodeo), the organization has announced the roster for the six-day event, which features nearly 1,000 entries from 35 different states. Marking its 31st year in Shawnee, Oklahoma, The IFYR is set to take place July 9-14 and will be one of the richest youth rodeos in the sport, paying upwards of $250,000.

“Each year at this event, we all agree that it’s such a blessing to the sport that we have been able to host this kind of payout at such an iconic rodeo for youth rodeo athletes,” said IPRA General Manager Dale Yerigan. “We are ecstatic to work with our incredible partners and unbelievable Volunteers in Shawnee as we usher in over three decades of adding to the rich history of rodeo and continue to bring new opportunities to youth athletes.”

Athletes in 10 disciplines—bareback riding, cowgirls breakaway roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, pole bending, goat tying, barrel racing, bull riding, and team roping —will compete for their piece of the $250,000 purse.

The event will feature 11 total performances, beginning Sunday, July 9 at 8 p.m., with the final performance taking place Friday, July 14 at 7:30 p.m. The event will consist of two long-go’s and a short-go, comprising the top 15 contestants in each event.

Additionally, the lineup will have four athletes in bareback riding, 284 in breakaway roping, 20 in saddle bronc riding, 60 in steer wrestling, 136 cowboys in tie-down roping, 116 in pole bending, 91 in goat tying, 228 in barrel racing, 32 in bull riding, and 178 pairs in team roping.
